Last Saturday night, I officiated a wedding. It was a lot of fun.
When the couple asked me to do it, one of the things they said is that they didn't want any god stuff in the ceremony. OK, I can handle that. I've been a ULC minister for a couple of years, so getting legally qualified wasn't a huge problem. I did have to get a notarized statement from my church and then get the county clerk to issue a special certificate, since I was an out-of-state minister, but it wasn't terribly difficult.
The couple wrote the ceremony, and I made one minor addition to it. I added "by the power vested in me by the state of Nevada" to the part where I pronounced them husband and wife, simply because I found the whole thing terribly amusing.
