Because it is the only TV sitcom that, to my recollection, never had a religious or holiday themed episode; no X-mas, no Easter, not even a Thanksgiving. They celebrated birthdays, an anniversary, and even an actual birth, but no baby jesus anywhere to be seen. That is one of the many reasons why I Love Lucy!

:-) Never noticed that - guess I was too busy laughing. I wonder if it was intentional on their part, or if it's just a coincidental consequence of it being made in an age when gratutious displays of religiosity weren't yet de rigeur for mainstream fare (as in recent decades when it seems like every show, no matter how innovative, experienced a sharp dip in the quality of its writing every December when they trotted out the inevitable saccharine Xmas episode.)

Wonder what Ms. Ball's thoughts on the matter were....

Well, she was a member of the communist/socialist party, at least on paper. I know that she and Desi were originally married in a civil ceromony and only later had a religious ceromony because she miscarried twice and Desi's mother convinced them that is was because they hadn't been married in the Catholic Church. Go figure.

I never knew or noticed this stuff when I was a watcher of the show.
Of course, I was only six years old when I was an avid "I Love Lucy' fan.
I didn't know she was a Communist either, I guess that makes her a redhead in more ways than one.
